LG has patented a check valve on their Unitary Rotary Duty compressor that allows it to block high pressure refrigerant and prevent high/low pressure equalization. This improves the SEER rating for your HVAC unit. LG has also developed an external solenoid valve on the Unitary Rotary Duty compressor to minimize temperature fluctuation for customers by equalizing pressure between the shell and low side. With this addition, the compressor can restart without a “harsh” switch on, providing a more consistent flow of air to maintain set temperature.
